I am here to help you communicate your message powerfully and clearly. We start by building a relationship so we can grow together as writer and editor. My decades of editing have taught me the following process:

LISTEN FIRST: Unlike the big editing shops, you won't send your piece to an anonymous editor. You and I will start with a conversation about your goals, your style, your concerns, your message, and your audience.

DO A QUICK EDIT: To ensure I understand your goals, I do an initial edit to save me time and you money. We talk; we both learn; and then I really get down to work.
SUBMIT THE FINAL EDIT WITH A CONVERSATION: I don't just send you the edited version. I send it and follow up with a conversation about why I did what I did. If this is to be a relationship, we must continually learn about how best to work together to make your writing stronger.
My background
I have been an editor for more than four decades, working with hundreds of writers of all ages and levels of expertise who were writing in a variety of genres from news and business to legal, medical, nonprofit, entertainment, consulting, etc.
I've learned that to get the best out of each writer, an editor must tailor his or her editing style to the style of each writer while still holding fast to the standards of good writing. Regardless of whether an author is writing a memo or manuscript, all writers have their self-esteem tied up in their work. Everyone takes pride in their work, from those who think they're great at it to those who dread it. It's my job to find the best way to enable each of you to succeed and grow in your writing.
